Amendments to the Foreign Nationals Act, approved by parliament on June 14th, have now entered into force. The amendments concern access to the asylum procedure and the legal effects of international protection. The website of the Directorate of Immigration is being updated in accordance with the amendments. The main points of the changes are listed here.

Vaccinations save lives! Vaccination is an immunisation intended to prevent the spread of a severe communicable disease. Vaccines contain ingredients called antigens, which help the body develop immunity (protection) against specific diseases.

Learning Icelandic helps you integrate into society and increases access to employment opportunities. Most new residents in Iceland are entitled to support for funding Icelandic lessons, for example through labour union benefits, unemployment benefits or social benefits. If you are not employed, please contact the social service or the Directorate of Labour to find out how you can sign up for Icelandic lessons.
