Ferries and Boats
There are several ferry journeys available in and around Iceland. Many of the ferries can carry cars, others are smaller and intended for foot passengers only. For the committed it is even possible to catch a ferry to Iceland.
There is only one ferry cruise crossing to Iceland. The ferry Norröna departs from and arrives at the port of Seyðisfjörður.
Ferries
There are four ferries operated with the support of the Icelandic Road Administration, serving routes that are considered part of the official road system.

Mainland - Vestmannaeyjar islands
The ferry Herjólfur is the biggest ferry operating domestically in Iceland. The ferry departs daily from Landeyjahöfn / Þorlákshöfn to the Vestmannaeyjar islands and back to the mainland.
Snæfellsnes - Westfjords
The ferry Baldur operates 6-7 days a week depending on the season. It departs from Stykkishólmur in the west of Iceland, stops in Flatey island and continues across Breiðafjörður bay and to Brjánslækur in the Westfjords.
Mainland - Hrísey island
The ferry Sævar departs every two hours from Árskógssandur in the north to the island Hrísey, located in the middle of Eyjafjörður fjord.
Mainland - Grímsey island
The northern most point of Iceland is Grímsey island. To get there you can take a ferry called Sæfari that departs from the town Dalvík.

If you prefer not to fly, there is another option available when traveling or moving to Iceland.
The ferry Norröna sails between Seyðisfjörður in the east of Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark.
Ísafjörður - Hornstrandir nature reserve
To get to the nature reserve at Hornstrandir in the Westfjords, you can catch a boat operated by Borea Adventures and Sjóferðir that run on a schedule. You can also go from Norðurfjörður with boats from Strandferðir.
